This specification covers a high zinc dust content paint for regalvanizing welds in galvanized steels.

SKU: 21035 Category:

Product Description

An organic type paint which produces a film containing high metallic zinc in contact with the steel. Like galvanizing, this zinc is electrically conductive, thereby preventing corrosion electro-chemically. This galvanizing repair paint is also suitable as a finish coat on all ferrous and galvanized surfaces. Available in Type I or Type II (Low VOC).

Note: please refer to the appropriate technical performance specification, MIL-P-21035, and applicable technical documents under the MSDS/Documents Tab.

Paint covered by this specification is of the following types, as specified:

Type. The types of coatings are as follows:

Surface must be clean, dry and free of all contamination before application of primer.
STEEL: Surface must be clean and free of all oil, grease and foreign material. Badly rusted or pitted steel should be cleaned by commercial sandblasting and primed the same day.

Combine 1 gallon of vehicle to pre-measured gallon of zinc dust(approximately 15 Pounds) by slowly mixing the zinc dust portion into the vehicle while under constant agitation. Mix thoroughly to disperse any lumps of zinc dust that may form while combining. After complete mixing, strain the admixed material before application.

Chemsol’s MIL-P-21035B Zinc Dust Primer can be applied by brush, roll or spray. Thin with Synthetic Reducer or Xylene up to one pint per gallon or as needed for proper atomization.
