This TT-P-664 specification covers the requirements for a quick drying, corrosion-inhibiting, high solids alkyd primer for pretreated ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The red oxide metal primer is lead and chromate free and contains no more than 420 grams per liter (3.5 pounds per gallon) of volatile organic compounds (VOC) applied.
A highly rust-resistant primer for ferrous metal. TT-P-664D Red Oxide Metal Primer is lead free, Low VOC, and has an extremely high solids content. This alkyd primer offers excellent “wetting” of the steel in addition to superior abrasion and weather resistance. May be applied over firm old alkyd or oil-based coatings as a barrier coat. This coating is extremely versatile due to its rich formulation.
